NWFA TEAMS TO SHOWCASE SPEEDMINTON AT GAMES
A select group of NWFA teams will be showcasing the hottest new sport on the planet at some of their games this season. Called SPEEDMINTON, the game is a combination of tennis, racquetball and badminton and is huge in Europe with hundreds of thousands of players and teams in more than 20 countries! The game is played without a net and the speeders (shuttlecocks) can travel over 175mph. The speeders can also be fitted with night lights so the game can be played at night. Many NWFA teams will be showcasing the game at their tailgate parties and at halftime.
The teams that will be showcasing SPEEDMINTON are: The Austin Outlaws, the H-Town Cyclones, The LA Amazons, the Kansas City Storm, the St. Louis Slam, The Modesto Magic, the Minnesota Vixen, The New Orleans Blaze and the Memphis Belles. PITTSBURGH FORCE JOINS NWFA!

The National Women's Football Association is pleased to announce that the Pittsburgh Force has joined the NWFA as an expansion team for 2009. The owners of the team are Kathy Ferrari and Felicia Mycyk. Ferrari, a 15 year postal employee, is a former all star in women's football for both offense and defense in 2003,2004, and 2005 and holds the record for the longest pass reception of 74 yards for her former team.  She is the care giver for her mother who has been paralyzed since 2002. "I'm looking forward to a long relationship with the NWFA and the new Pittsburgh Force Women's Football team,"she states. Mycyk is as talented off the field as she is on the field having played corner for three years for her former team.  A talented go-getter and executive, Mycyk is currently pursuing a MBA degree, while working full time as the General Manager for a manufacturer's rep agency. She recently was selected as the first recipient of the Pennsylvania Governor's Conference for Women "Be the Change Award". The award was created to honor women who personify compassion for their community and commitment to improving the everyday lives of those around them. She is the co-founder and serves as chair person for ARISE, a flood recovery group that raised over $47,000. Committed to programs that help youth and women in the community,she is a high school mentor, serves on the Board for the Girls Scouts, promotes local musicians, and is an active PTA member. Mycyk is a resident of Baden. She is married, the mother of two and is expecting a little boy. Mycyk will be one of the panelists of 8 influential Beaver County Women at the March 29th Beaver County's Women's Conference. "There are a lot of talented women athletes in our area and we think this will give them a chance to play a sport they love," she states. "We couldn't be happier with these new owners and this new team. Both of these women are businesswomen and are experienced and very passionate about women's football. They know what they have to do to make their team successful on and off the field and they have a proven track record of helping teams become successful.   Pittsburgh is a great market for our league.
